  • First sessions for ‘Logan’
    December 8th, 2016

    In early December first ideas were recorded at The Village in Los Angeles for ‘Logan’. The ensemble consisted of Piano, Bass, Drums, Harmonica, Guitar and Trombone to get a very ‘old school’ 70’s noir sound. This was lots of fun and gave the team much room to explore this sound further.

  • ‘Mathilde’ recordings and ‘Logan’

    The recording sessions for ‘Mathilde’ are finished. For this score, renowned conductor Valery Gergiev conducted a 90 piece orchestra in St. Petersburg. Upon his return from Russia, Marco was tasked to immediately jump on James Mangold’s film ‘Logan’. The team went to work right away and the first recording session was already approaching in December.

    Work begins on the Russian project entitled ‘Mathilde’. Scoring is planned to take place this fall in Moscow.

  • ‘Beyond Valkyrie’ finished
    May 15th, 2016

    Marcus finishes work on ‘Beyond Valkyrie’. The film is set to release in a few territories later this year, as well as on demand. Marcus is also commissioned to write an orchestral suite based on the various themes from the score.

  • ‘The Shallows’ starts
    May 1st, 2016

    Work begins on ‘The Shallows’, starring Blake Lively as Nancy. Her character gets ‘stranded’ 200 feet from the beach where a shark is waiting for her to make it back to safety.

  • ‘Beyond Valkyrie’
    March 25th, 2016

    Marcus starts composing for Claudio Faeh’s newest movie ‘Beyond Valkyrie’. In this World War 2 action film a group of unlikely soldiers go behind enemy lines to extract a Nazi informant after the failed attempt at Hitler’s life.

  • ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Sessions in LA
    January 20th, 2016

    First sessions take place in Los Angeles for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming monster epic. A 95 piece orchestra is responsible for various alien noises, epic action and heroic fanfares. SO. MUCH. FUN.


  • ‘Northmen – A Viking Saga’ Suite premiers in Switzerland
    December 17th, 2015

    Marcus travels to beautiful Altdorf, Switzerland to attend the World Premier of his Suite to Claudio Faeh’s ‘Northmen – A Viking Saga’.


    The three sold out concerts were performed by a group of around 150 people: a large orchestra, accompanied by full rhythm section, as well as an 80 piece choir. Stay tuned for excerpts of the performance in the ‘Music’ section.


  • More Aliens to kill in ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’

    Work begins on Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, set to be released later this summer. The film once again unites four youngsters who gain special powers after being involved in a secret science experiment gone wrong.

  • Alex Projas’ ‘Gods of Egypt’ starts
    February 1st, 2015

    Marcus begins work on ‘Gods of Egypt’ – Alex Projas’ most ambitious project to date. Many epic moments are to be scored, with the help of a massive Percussion section, a 100 piece orchestra and a large choir that has to sing in ancient Egyptian tongues. Fun for the whole family 😉

  • ‘Red Machine’ receives a new title

    ‘Red Machine’ is released in Germany and Canada under the new title ‘Into the Grizzly Maze’.


  • ‘Hitman – Agent 47’ work begins

    Marcus starts work on Fox’s ‘Hitman – Agent 47’, based on the successful video game of the same name. The movie takes place in Berlin, Germany and stars Rupert Friend as Agent 47, and Hannah Ware as Katja van Dees.

    Marco, Brandon and Marcus start working on ‘The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death’ which scores early after in July. The score eludes to the original in that it uses the Main Themes yet expands on them and introduces a new Haunting Theme for Eve.

    Marcus starts work on Michael Roskam’s ‘The Drop’, sadly the last project James Gandolfini would be part of. The film also stars Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace.

  • ‘Northmen – A Viking Saga’

    Marcus starts work on the upcoming “Northmen – A Viking Saga”, directed by Claudio Faeh. This epic action movie follows a handful of shipwrecked vikings across the plains of Scotland where they have to face a hostile group of warriors that hunt them and pick them off one by one.

  • Work on ‘Seventh Son’ has begun
    June 17th, 2013

    Work has started on the fantasy epic “Seventh Son”, starring Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore. The story is based on the first book in the “Wardstone Chronicles” by Joseph Delaney, and follows a young man whose immunity to witch powers make him a key figure in a century old war between the ‘spooks’ and the legion of witches who are hellbent for destruction and world domination.

    This modern adaptation of the Stephen King classic is written and directed by Diablo Cody, and stars Julianne Moore and Chloe-Grace Moretz.

  • ‘Wolverine’ finished

    Recordings are finished in Los Angeles for James Mangold’s newest movie, “Wolverine”, starring Hugh Jackman. Set in modern-day Japan, Logan meets up with an acquaintance who wants to offer him thanks for saving his life a long time ago.

    Work finishes and the recordings for Brad Pitt’s Zombie Epos “World War Z” take place in London. Very gritty and scary action music!

  • ‘White House Down’ Recordings in L.A.
    February 23rd, 2013

    Marcus collaborates once again with Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander on their newest endeavor, the action thriller entitled “White House Down”. This roller coaster ride of a movie follows Channing Tatum into the White House as it’s being taken hostage by a group of vicious terrorists. The movie also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Woods, and is being directed by Roland Emmerich.

  • Work started on ‘Red Machine’
    August 10th, 2012

    Marcus starts work on David Hackl’s “Red Machine”, starring Billy Bob Thornton, James Marsden and Thomas Jane. The movie follows two estranged brothers who have to face a larger than life grizzly bear that terrorizes the place and people of their childhood home in the Alaskan wild.

  • Work on ‘The Forgotten’ Concert Piece started
    July 2nd, 2012

    Work has started on a very special project, entitled “The Forgotten”. This concert piece commission encompasses working with themes and motives that didn’t make it into past projects, hence the title. The world premier is set to take place in February of 2013. The orchestra that will be performing the piece will be conducted by Folko Jungnitsch in Munich, Germany.

    Work is finished on ‘Woman In Black’, the British horror movie, based on the acclaimed novel by Susan Hill. The movie stars Daniel Radcliffe and was directed by James Watkins.

    Orchestrations are finished for James Newton Howard’s exciting action score and are being recorded in Los Angeles later this month.

  • ‘The Thing’ score completed
    April 15th, 2011

    Orchestrations are finished for ‘The Thing’, the prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic. The recording sessions are to take place in Los Angeles in late April. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in october this year.

  • ‘Symphony of Hope’ – The Haiti Project

This fourth installment of the Scream series is directed by Wes Craven and involves Sidney Prescott’s return to Woodsboro after ten years to promote her newest self-help book.     Marcus writes additional music on the upcoming ‘Soul Surfer’, starring AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt and Carrie Underwood. The movie follows the inspiring true story of teenage surfer sensation Bethany Hamilton who lost her left arm in a shark attack and overcame all odds to become a champion again.

    Marcus works on the animated movie ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’, a charming ‘Garden Gnome’ version of ‘Romeo & Juliet’. The movie features voice talents James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as well as songs by Elton John.

  • ‘Anonymous’

    Work starts on Roland Emmerich’s ‘Anonymous’. This unusual thriller asks the question “Was Shakespeare a fraud?” as it follows the involvement of Edward de Vere – the 17th Earl of Oxford – as not only the lover of Queen Elisabeth, but also the author of Shakespeare’s famous works. Release date is set for October 2011.

  • ‘Sniper: Reloaded’ score completed

    Marcus scores ‘Sniper: Reloaded’ for SONY. The movie follows Marine Sgt. Brandon Beckett and his journey through the Congo to uncover a conspiracy that resulted in the murder of his platoon. The film’s release is set for early 2011.

    Work starts on ‘Nanny McPhee 2 – The Big Bang’. This marks the first collaboration with one of Marcus’ all time favorite composers James Newton Howard. Scoring sessions will commence in London early february.

    Marcus starts work on the highly acclaimed TV series ‘V’, airing tuesdays on ABC. The studio plans to broadcast four episodes initially before the christmas break and resume with more in March of 2010, right after the Winter Olympics.

    Marcus finishes work on ‘Repo Men’, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. This movie is based on the sinister novel ‘The Repossession Mambo’ by Eric Garcia. Release date is set to summer 2010.

    Marcus finishes composing on ‘Knowing’, starring Nicholas Cage and Rose Byrne. This very dark film about the end of the world was directed by Alex Proyas and opens in theaters on March 20, 2009. Also check Marcus’ music section for some previously unreleased cues.

    Marcus Trumpp and Marco Beltrami’s Score for the ‘Mesrine’ movies is nominated for Best  Music Score at the 2009 César Awards. The Awards Ceremony takes place February 27th in Paris, France.

    Marcus finishes orchestrating on ‘Max Payne’, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. This computer game adaptation was directed by John Moore and will be released in October of 2008.

  • ‘Mesrine’ score completed

    Marcus returns from Paris, France, where he recorded the score for ‘Mesrine: L’instinct de mort’ (Instinct of Death) and ‘Mesrine: L’ennemi public n° 1’ (Public Enemy No. 1), two movies about notorious French gangster Jacques Mesrine. The movies are scheduled to be released in Europe this Fall and will have a limited release in the US later on.

    Marcus attends the Independent Film Festival at the 2008 International Comic Convention in San Diego, and participates in the Q&A panel for ‘Forecast’.

  • World Premiere of ‘Elegy for 12 Horns’
    May 16th, 2008

    Marcus’ original composition ‘Elegy for 12 Horns’ is performed at the Popper Auditorium by the Horn Ensemble of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Bill Boston conducted and Brian O’Connor, one of Hollywood’s top horn players, organized the concert and contributed to a great performance.

    October 22nd, 2007

    Marcus finishes additional composition work on ‘10,000 B.C.’ Roland Emmerich, the director of Stargate and Independence Day, teamed up with Harald Kloser to write and produce this epic adventure. The score is recorded in London.

  • ‘3:10 to Yuma’ in theaters
    September 15th, 2007

    ‘3:10 to Yuma’ opens as a limited release in the US.

    Marcus finishes orchestration work on Marco Beltrami’s score for ‘3:10 to Yuma’, starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. The score is a wonderful homage to Ennio Morricone’s Spaghetti Western music.

    ‘Live free or Die Hard’ is now in theaters. The movie features additional music by Marcus. Varese Sarabande will release the soundtrack.
